Scarce Citadel

'The Citadel (v. Nardo)' by Pepenardo headlines B25 Art Gallery Auctions on Scarce.City with a 1.02 BTC ($108,033 USD) sale to David Bailey, facilitated by TommyBTC.

At the core of the 64" x 84" oil on canvas is "a response to the now legendary 2013 Reddit post by the infamous Bitcoin Time Traveler."

Via Aniko Berman:
"a satirical but chilling vision of what would come with the proliferation of Bitcoin: extreme stratification due to economic resources, and resultant strife due to this amplified wealth imbalance.

A far cry from the utopian ideals of decentralization, self-sovereignty, and benevolent democratic dynamics originally espoused by early crypto evangelists.

More Black Mirror than Satoshi’s White Paper."

Aniko goes on to discuss its multitude of influences, including the anonymously illustrated meme 'The Citadel v.1' and 'The Tower of Babel' by Pieter Bruegel.

RD Report

1/1 art takes a breather after a long stretch of rampant line items. That said, there are still interesting sales, including the latest from m0dest and VinceVanDough going into the cydr archives.

Have a look at that REMNANTS by XCOPY. Is 11.99 ETH a step back from recent sales in the 14-15 ETH range? Not so fast. If you're a regular reader, you know I value the USD metric as a more reliable long-term indicator. Today's reported sale is - get this - a full $5K USD higher than its recent sales high mark ($31.7k vs. $26.7k).

A not often seen 'REPLICATOR' edition by Mad Dog Jones changes hands. If you're not familiar with the release's history, that's a rabbit hole for you. It stands out to this day as a testament to art x blockchain.

Bring it into the 24 Hours of Art Telegram TODAY at 12:00pm ET. We're breaking the week down with Niftytime on This Week in ART.

Today Reported:
Sales thresholds of 3 ETH+ Collection, 0.3 ETH+ 1/1, 0.75 ETH+ 1/1/X, and 0.3 ETH+ Edition

Under Threshold...

...but interesting to me is 'Dissolve' by Sean Mundy selling for 0.12 ETH to mrmerge.eth.

Sean has created strong work for a long time, and it's nice to see recognition passed his way, spurred in part by Killian Moore.

Here is a personal favorite from Sean: 'Barriers IV'.
