"You know what is better than a triptych? A quadtych..." said Raoul Pal.
Those words portend a major acquisition as his Culture Vault acquires 'Emerging Face - Neural Net Imagined Portrait (509 Strokes)' by Pindar Van Arman for 15 ETH | $61,136 USD.
He becomes the fourth collector, in Van Arman's words "a Quad of Quadtychs", who have acquired a set spanning the 'Emerging Face' through 'Reflection' collections. The others are Bharat Krymo, Delronde, and the 6529 Fund.
Additional Highlights:
'Reflection' by Pindar Van Arman with Iconic and MoA+L via OpenSea sells out 20 'Reflection' NFTs from Van Arman's personal collection for 0.5 ETH, each allowing collectors to claim matching, hand-signed robotic prints.
The 'Reflection' 1/1/999 collection itself sees an additional 7 sales for 4.32 ETH, pushing its list to 0.68 ETH.

'Mementos' by m0dest: 6,969 "memento" collection for 0.0369 ETH each, 70% of funds lock into refundable vaults, 30% passes to artist, tokens become credits to redeem/trade
I opened today by releasing this Q&A with artist m0dest.
Sales/market aside, I'm interested to see whether the mechanic itself lands. In theory it is intriguing. We see dynamism and creative use of blockchain apply to artworks all the time. What about when they are applied to the artist-collector relationship?
You have a pool of funds generated on mint with 30% passed through immediately to artist and 70% vaulted. In its best case, the vault becomes incentivization for the artist to create and innovate to claim most/all of it over time through redemptions. In its worst case, collectors become disinterested and/or the artist becomes de-motivated.
It is a mechanic that feels best when tied to an artist who relentlessly creates and naturally communicates with collectors. Being that m0dest fits that to a T, this is the ideal scenario to see whether this mechanic has a real shot to make it.
Today Reported:
Sales thresholds of 4 ETH+ Collection, 0.4 ETH+ 1/1, 0.8 ETH+ 1/1/X, and 0.4 ETH+ Edition
