It brings to a close a milestone sequence for Nadler, including a solo show at SuperRare's Offline Gallery in NYC and the 80,000 Euros sale of 1/1 artwork 'Aura'.
'Yonat's Reverie' by Hafftka sells out 144 editions at 0.169 ETH each and 24.34 ETH total.
It is the first of the 8 artwork 'HAFFTKA COMPUTER PAINTINGS 1996-2001' series. Each subsequent artwork will be acquired by burning and relinquishing one of these editions.
The artist reflects on beginning digital painting 3 decades ago but having no way to sell it: "the art dealers laughed digital off as 'not real' and considered it worthless".
The collection now comes full circle. Via Hafftka:
"With the blockchain, I can finally prove authenticity, control edition sizes, and share my earliest digital works the way they were meant to be experienced: rare, real, and ownable...
This drop isn’t just about my art. It’s about the meme. That digital art had no value. That anyone could just screenshot it. Right-click-save it. This collection turns that meme into a relic."
The Digital Art Mile at Art Basel has served as a qualitative hub this week, fostering well structured days of digital dialogue and exhibited art. Georg Bak and Roger Haas (and an exceptional team!) deserve a lot of credit.
Its strongest attribute has been those connecting in and around it, over casual conversations on the patio, lounging on the exhibition floor, and in each day's aftermath at dinner. It offers a feeling of history writing itself in real time.
Digital art on blockchain is viewed as small, but there is an interest, a curiosity, a perception that something important is indeed happening. If you spend your time on X, you may feel that every day. Slowly, but surely, others are too.
