Via Ameesia Marold:
"For this first iteration of AUTOMATA, we wanted to tell a story about the continuous lineage from mechanical automation to today’s contemporary AI systems. Throughout the week it felt clear that collectors are genuinely interested in understanding the historical context behind autonomous art and its many expressions, witnessing artists as toolmakers.
Despite being radically different bodies of work, people instinctively recognized that Plantoid and Gene's Abraham works are exploring the same fundamental question: what happens when machines become creative agents?
Last week's sales confirmed that AUTOMATA as a concept resonates across generations of collectors, from those who appreciate the pioneering work of blockchain autonomy to those excited by AI as an artistic collaborator."
Alpha Centauri Kid editions lead the weekend art market.
Sunday introduces two more via Manifold:
'Skelekart' sells out 13 editions for 3.5 ETH each and 45.5 ETH total.
'Aerial Screw' mints 12 of 14 editions thus far for 3.4 ETH each and 40.8 ETH total.
The above brings Alpha Centauri Kid's weekend to 4 new artworks, 36 of 38 editions minted, and 141.3 ETH in total sales.
Not many artists can stealth release four editions on a Summer weekend and land near a 150 ETH total sales figure. Apart from art that continues to strengthen, Alpha Centauri Kid has always had a flair for releasing on his terms and keeping collectors on their toes.
